Featuring a classic tailored blazer silhouette with notch lapels, a two-button front, flap pockets and a chest welt pocket, it works as a considered suit jacket when paired with the matching trousers. Finished with buttoned cuffs and a back vent, the fine zig-zag pattern that defines this herringbone blazer keeps the tailoring textured rather than flat. As a textured blazer, it moves easily from smart tailoring to something more casual, thrown over a knit polo or an open-collar shirt. Q: What is herringbone wool, and is it good for suits?
A: Herringbone wool is a classic woven fabric instantly recognisable by its distinctive, zig-zag 'V' pattern, named after its resemblance to the skeleton of a herring fish. Rather than a flat, plain finish, the alternating direction of the weave creates subtle depth, structural durability, and a rich, tactile finish.
- Is it good for suits? Absolutely. It’s a tailoring powerhouse. Herringbone wool holds its shape exceptionally well, resists creasing, and adds subtle texture without shouting for attention.
